The requirements may differ for every field in German universities. So here I'm giving you a basic idea of the process for admission in Germany.

Pre-Requisite to apply in Germany

● Academic Qualification - Minimum 60% in senior secondary.

● Language - You will have to show German language proficiency certificate and Learn German up to C1 level.

TEST - TestDaF / DSH ( You will have to clear the exam and must get the score required by the university)

● Foundation Course - (Studienkolleg) Germany has 13 years of education (instead of 12 like India) so to fulfill that 1 year, students have to do a foundation courses.

● Entrance Examination (aufnahmeprüfung): To ensure that a learner brings the Prerequisites for a course

Admission Requirements

● German language up to C1 level

● Knowledge of the preparation course of your preferred field.

The Assessment Test (FSP)

Assessment Test (Feststellungsprüfung) is the final exam after a Studienkolleg course. If you pass the Feststellungsprüfung, you will get a university entrance certificate and can apply at universities in Germany and start with your degree. This is important for all students, that are enrolled in studienkolleg course.

What types of University Preparatory courses are there?

The following preparation courses are offered:

• T-course – Mathematics and natural sciences, technical degrees

• M-course – degree in Medicine, Biology, and Pharmacy

• W-course – degree in economics, social science

• G-course – Humanities and german studies

• S-course – Language degrees

You can choose one course amongst the above to pursue your degree.

HOW TO PROCEED?

1. Document Submission

You start with submitting the required documents that have been asked by the university. Basic documents required:

▪ 12th Mark Sheet

▪ Resume

▪ Passport

▪ Provisional Certificate

2. Receiving a language school invoice.

4. Payment of language fee.

5. Opening blocked account

German universities require you to open a blocked account with €8640 that will be unlocked accordingly for your personal expenses in Germany.

Additionally, German universities offer a wide variety of courses in different fields with a 0 tuition fee. In 2014, Germany’s 16 states abolished tuition fees for undergraduate students at all public German universities. This means that currently, both domestic and international undergraduates at public universities in Germany can study for free, with just a small fee to cover administration and other costs per semester.
